The Story Behind Mill Street Sound

Mill Street runs right through the heart of Gahanna, and in a lot of ways, so do I.

I've spent most of my life here — going to school here, raising my family here, volunteering in the community, and documenting this city in ways most people never think to. I've made albums about Lincoln High School before the wrecking ball took it down. I've been the DJ at a local Elementary school long enough to watch kids grow up on the dance floor.

Mill Street Sound grew out of all of that. It's not just a business name — it's where I come from.

When you hire Mill Street Sound, you're getting someone who genuinely loves what he does and genuinely loves this community. I bring the same care to a nonprofit fundraiser that I bring to a school dance or a backyard birthday party — because every event matters to somebody, and that somebody deserves a great experience.

Music has always been how I connect with people. Mill Street Sound is just that connection, made official.

Meet Your DJ

My name is Jon, and I've been passionate about music my entire life — not just listening to it, but creating it, feeling it, and using it to tell stories.

I'm a Gahanna native, a single dad, and a musician and producer with a home studio and more synthesizers than I probably need. I've released music under multiple projects over the years, which means when I stand behind a DJ booth I'm not just pushing buttons — I understand how music is built, how it moves people, and how to read a room.

Over the past three years I've DJed many events as the house DJ for a local elementary school — family nights, school dances, fundraisers — building a reputation for being reliable, prepared, and genuinely fun to work with. Now I'm bringing that same energy to events across Central Ohio.

My DJ Philosophy

Every room has a heartbeat. My job is to find it and keep it going.

Great DJing isn't about having the biggest library or the flashiest gear — it's about paying attention. To the crowd. To the moment. To what the event actually needs right now versus five minutes from now. Sometimes that means turning it up. Sometimes it means pulling back and letting a slow song do the work.

I collaborate closely with clients before every event because the more I understand your vision, the better I can bring it to life. And I stay flexible, because no event goes exactly as planned and that's okay — I've learned to love the unexpected moments as much as the scripted ones.

Every event is somebody's memory in the making. I don't take that lightly.
